E-brake cable runs inside of the VW bug frame #356

Before I can paint the top of the frame there is a couple of things I gotta do. The e-brake cable run partially inside the frame and partially outside. So I am creating a couple of brackets to hold the nylon cable guides to route the cables to the lever assembly.

Finish painting the bottom of the VW bug frame #354

After I finished priming the bottom of the frame, I painted it with heavy duty chassis paint. I will give this a few days to cure and then flip it back over upright. I can then focus on finishing the frame paint.

Prime and smooth out the VW bug frame bottom #353

First….that black stuff on my fingers is POR 15 seam sealer (bad idea) it took 2 weeks to wear off. Anyway I am preaty much

finished with the primer coat on the bottom of the frame. The primer is the Eastwood rust encapsulator and it went on very

smoothly. After I paint it with the gloss black chassis paint I will flip it back over to finish the other side.

E-brake continued, Drill out pass-through holes #349

I now have the e-brake cable sheaths mounted to the VW bug’s bottom plate. The next step is to locate and drill out the holes that will allow the e-brake cables to pass through the bottom plate. I will work on the nylon guides once I turn the frame upright again.

Now that I have the e-brake mount locations, I am going to weld nuts to the bottom of the frame to hold the e-brake cable mounts. I will also be constructing small ramps to protect the mounts. Small steps to get the final product.
