Finish up the front sway bar #371

I now have the VW bug front sway bar finished. After welding it up I smoothed it out with a grinder and sand-paper and then panted it all up. I also finished the drop links and painted them as well. It appears to be OK now but I will have to give it a true teat when I get it driving.

  1. Tim I just watched your march 24 post . is the sway bars made out of spring steel and if so when you weld on it you loose the spring temper .

    • Thanks Jim,
I did not perform a retemper on the sway bar for a few reasons. I
tried my best to minimise the heat transfer while welding. I placed 1
weld at a time and allowed the bar to fully cool before the next (each
plug weld is 2″ from the next). I also did not want to distort or warp
the bar by retempering it as the steel tube is not the same material
as the sway bar.I believe that the way I did it the bar can only bend
and distort under constant hard cornering. I do not think it can
      break. I hope…..

      Thanks, Tim
