I have now removed the VW Bug body and set it aside for storage. I have also replaced the internal “body hollows” location devices. Getting ready for chassis assembly.
Finish up the rear basket and mark all other locations inside the VW Bug body. I need to know where the doors, dashboard and firewalls are when the body has been removed.
Construction of the rear basket is important. It allows me to see the internal body lines of the VW Bug body. I can set this basket on at any time during the build.
Finish positioning all 4 wheel boxes. And create materials to locate the hollows inside the bug body. Use markings on the concrete to show body location with respect with the wheel boxes.
I now have all of the VW Bug wheel boxes constructed. These boxes are an exact fit and a bit snug on the tires. The boxes help to hold the wheels and tires verticle as well as determining their position on the concrete floor.
After playing a bit more with the ride stance of the VW Bug, I created legs for the platform and bolted everything to the concrete floor. I have also started building boxes to contain the wheels and tires.
